History

Before the arrival of European colonists, St Johns Park was inhabited by the Cabrogal people. The area was quickly settled, and declared the parish of St John. A farm was established, along with both a school and a post office by the 1890s. St Johns Park was home to many early Italian and Yugoslavian immigrants, who used the land to grow vineyards. Their numbers grew even more in the mid-20th century, and St Johns Park remains a diverse suburb to this day.

The Clear Paddock Creek runs through St Johns Park, and the suburb contains a variety of churches and places of worship. It also has a sports club, bowling club and several shops. Fatman Catering, a popular burger joint, is a noted hangout spot.
