History

The area is rich in Aboriginal history with the Cabrogal tribe residing in the Fairfield area for over 30,000 years. Horsley Park was formerly part of Colonel George Johnston’s estate gifted by Governor King during the early 19th century.

Over time, an Indian colonial property was built on the land by Major George Nicholas Weston. He named it ‘Horsely’ after his birthplace in Surrey, England.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The most notable landmark in this wealthy suburb is the equestrian centre built especially for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The main street offers several shops and businesses including a firearms store. There are also a number of small farms in the area.
