Green Valley is a residential suburb of Sydney. With a population of over 12,000, Green Valley is 39km from the Sydney central business district.

History

Green Valley was once a larger area, covered in Eucalypt forests. It was home to the indigenous Cabrogal people who hunted the native animals for their meat, hide and fur.

When Liverpool was established in 1810, the area was given to British settlers who cleared the forests. They established farms and began to carve up the area into the surrounding suburbs and towns we see today. The original Green Valley included places we now know as Miller, Ashcroft, Bushby and Cartwright, as well as parts of Mt Pritchard and Hinchinbrook.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

By the sixties, the growing suburbs of Sydney reached Liverpool and Green Valley became a popular residential area. It now has housing for home workers for whom the city is a short commute away.
