History

Cabramatta West was once a part of Cabramatta. The Cabrogal tribe are the original inhabitants of the area. The suburb takes its name from the native word “cabra”. This refers to a “tasty fresh water grub”. The Bull family once owned a 100-acre land, which is now known as Cabramatta Park.

The main shopping centre is located in Cooks Hill, commonly known by the locals. Due to the large Vietnamese community of this area, there are lots of amazing Vietnamese eateries. Residents enjoy the parks, shopping strips and restaurants of this suburb.
