Bossley Park, a suburb in Sydney, sits 36km west of the CBD. Part of the Greater Western Sydney region, it has a population of over 14,000.

History

The suburb was named after John Brown Bossley, an English chemist. He purchased land on Smithfield Road and named the property Edensor after a village in Derbyshire, England.

In 1890, after the area north of Edensor was subdivided, it became known as Bossley Park. A public school was built in 1890 and a post office in 1895.

Many migrants from Italy arrived after WW2. These Italian people play a vital role in the local community.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Bossley Park has many schools. These include Bossley Park High School, Bossley Park Public School, and Prairievale Public School. The suburb also has a Catholic school, Mary Immaculate Primary School.

Bossley Park is also home to the Marconi Stadium, a soccer stadium and home to the Marconi Stallions and Marconi Mustangs.
