History

Rivett takes its name from Sir David Rivett. David Rivett was a decorated professor of chemistry. He was President of Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science.

The ACT has very interesting geology. A quirky feature of Rivett is its rocks. Red-purple and green-grey rocks are common through most of the suburbs.

Recently, Rivett was affected by the 2003 Canberra bushfires. Several homes were burnt and many residents had to flee.
