Macgregor is a residential suburb in the Australian Capital Territory. In the Belconnen district of Canberra, is has a population of over 5,500.

History

Macgregor was gazetted on the 9th of September 1971. It was named to honour Sir William MacGregor, the Governor of Queensland from 1909 to 1914. He was also the first Chancellor of the University of Queensland in 1911.

Macgregor lies next to the suburbs of Holt, Latham, and Dunlop on the western side of Belconnen. Florey Drive is the boundary to the east, Ginninderra Drive to the north, and Southern Cross Drive to the south.

The streets are named after members of the Australian medical professions.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Macgregor is home to a primary school and a neighbourhood oval. The main road passes by a shop and an old shopping centre that is now Kings swimming pool.
