Isabella Plains is in Tuggeranong in Canberra’s South. It is home to 4,315 people.

Explorers canvassed the Tuggeranong area in the 1820s. White settlers came in 1823. Brigade Major John Ovens and Captain Mark Currie walked with Joseph Wild as a guide.

The pair travelled along the Murrumbidgee River and named the area ‘Isabella’s Plain’. This was after the daughter of Sir Thomas Brisbane, the Governor of New South Wales.

It became a suburb as Tuggeranong was developed in 1975.

LIfestyle and Entertainment

A small set of shops services the Isabella Plains neighbourhood. Locals have access to a supermarket, a chemist and a hairdresser. There are a few eateries and health services.

The suburb has a preparatory school. Older children attend school in surrounding neighbourhoods.

There are community play groups on offer in the neighbourhood centre.
