History

Griffith is one of Canberra’s oldest suburbs with first records dating back to the late 1920s. The locality is named after Sir Samuel Griffith, the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. Streets in Griffith are named after explorers.

There are a number of heritage-listed areas in Griffith. These include the Blandfordia 5 Precinct, Griffith Oval No. 1 and St Paul’s Church.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The leafy suburb of Griffith is home to some of Canberra’s most exclusive residences. In 2014, it was acknowledged as the most expensive suburb in Canberra. There are no less than 20 parks within the area.

The retail areas of Manuka and Kingston provide boutique shopping, fine dining and upmarket cafes. Manuka Shopping Centre is one of the oldest precincts in Canberra.
