History

Forrest is named after Sir John Forrest, an explorer, legislator and former Premier of Western Australia. He was one of the fathers of the Australian Constitution.

Forrest was renamed from the earlier suburb Blandfordia. It earned gazetted status in 1928. The streets within the suburb were named after explorers and governors.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb is one of the few areas built to the original Canberra plans. Its streets are not straight, but are instead curved. It has part of the Manuka Shopping Centre. It a government-run primary school.

Most of the residents are Australian-born. They live in detached homes. Most residents above 15 have an average weekly income of $1,457.
