History

Farrer has many historical names associated with it. Most of the roads were given their names in memory of agricultural experts. The suburb itself was called Farrer after William James Farrer. He was a man who carried out wheat-breeding experiments.

Farrer is a large suburb, and it has many facilities to cater for the needs of its residents. These include an oval and several places for children to play. There are two schools in the area as well as a scout hall. Farrer has a shop, and the Southlands Shopping Centre is not far away too.

For some fresh air or a nice bushland walk, the Farrer Ridge Nature Reserve is the place to go. It has some wonderful views.
