History

Tuggeranong has a rich indigenous history. The Ngunnawal people lived in the region for more than 21,000 years. Following European settlement, it became grazing land. The Commonwealth bought the land in 1917 to serve military purposes. In 1969, planning began for a satellite town in the area.

Fadden was gazetted as a suburb in 1975. The suburb is named after Prime Minister Arthur Fadden. The street names reference Queensland politicians.

Fadden is a popular suburb with Canberra families. It has a green outlook over the Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve. There are plenty of parks and green space. The Fadden Pine Plantation has a great playground and barbecue area.
