History

Established in 1972, Evatt takes its name from Herbert Vere Evatt. Born in 1894, Herbert Evan was a Justice of the High Court, Australian judge, parliamentarian, and writer. Visitors to Evatt will notice that its streets take their names from parliament members and legal persons.

There are three schools in Evatt. These include Evatt Primary School, Miles Franklin Primary School, and St Monica’s Primary School.

Evatt is a friendly suburb that is good for families with children. It has an IGA, chemist, butcher, and bakery. The suburb also has three neighbourhood ovals. These include Evatt Neighbourhood Oval and South West Evatt Oval.
