Crace is a brand new suburb in Canberra’s North. It is currently home to 2,883 people.

History

Crace is named after farmer Edward Kendall Crace. He owned several properties in the Gungahlin area. In 2008, the Crace Joint Venture began construction of a new residential suburb. The Joint Venture included Defence Housing Australia and the Canberra Investment Corporation.

The companies have built a mix of high and low-cost housing. By 2013, the final blocks were sold. There are 1800 dwellings in the suburb.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

As a planned suburb, Crace has plenty of community infrastructure. There are 23 hectares of parks in the suburb. These include Gungaderra Grasslands nature reserve. The reserve is part of the wider Canberra Nature Park.

Crace Central shopping area is designed to service the community. It includes cafes, eateries, medical facilities, and childcare. There is a community garden.
