History

Cook was part of agricultural lands in Belconnen before the area was developed during the 1960s.

It became a suburb in 1968. Cook is named after two Cooks. These are Captain James Cook and Australian Prime Minister Sir Joseph Cook. The streets in Cook commemorate famous Australian women.
