Campbell is a residential suburb in the ACT. It spans the southeast area of Canberra’s business district. Sitting at the base of Mt Ainslie, it has a population of 4,928.

History

Robert Campbell, the owner of Duntroon Station, is the town’s namesake. The town is built where Duntroon Station stood. Robert Campbell built several buildings in Canberra. Most of these are still standing. They include Blundell’s Cottage, St. John the Baptist Church and Reid.

Military personnel inspired the suburb’s street names.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Several important buildings are in Campbell. These include the Australian War Memorial and the Royal Military College. The Australian Defence Force Academy and CSIRO corporate headquarters are also in the suburb. The Campbell Park Offices are in the area.

There are three schools in the area. These are Campbell High School, Campbell Primary School and Canberra Grammar Northside Infant School.
