History

Willagee gained its name from Willagee Swamp. The name comes from the Noongar people. It was approved in 1954. Before becoming a suburb, Willagee was made up of a housing estate. The first houses in the area were largely imported from Austria.

In the 1980s, a couple, David and Catherine Birnie, committed a number of murders in the area.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Willagee is located beside the Leach Highway, which runs through the south of Perth. Within the suburb are a number of parks and reserves. These include the Winnacott Reserve and the Webber Reserve. These reserves are in use by local sports teams. Willagee is home to the Willagee Bears Rugby League Football Club. The suburb has an IGA, a supermarket, a post office, and a library.
