With a population of 3,246, Wellard is a suburb of Perth. It is conveniently located less than 30 minutes from the central business district.

History

Wellard takes its name from John Wellard, an early settler in the region. Wellard owned Serpentine Farm in the 1860s. The modern suburb is Perth’s first transit-oriented development. Established in 1978, it provides housing to commuters.

The area has been in development since 2003. Peel Limited and the Western Australian Department of Housing are working together to provide 1,700 households in the suburb.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

With strong bus and train links, Wellard’s residents work throughout Perth. They can reach the CBD in less than half an hour. Travel to Mandurah takes only 20 minutes. Kwinana and Rockingham are just a short bus ride away.

Wellard has a central shopping precinct at Wellard Square. Wellard Square is home to shops as well as various restaurants.
