Victoria Park is a wonderfully quiet suburb of Western Australia 3 kilometres north-west of Perth. It has a population of about 7,100 and offers great views of the city.

History

The area of Victoria Park is named after the Victoria Park Estate. It was a development from the 1890s. Some say the estate was named after Queen Victoria and others believe it comes from Victoria Park in Melbourne.

In 1886, a settlement began opposite the present site of the Broken Hill Hotel. The land was divided one year later. In 1893, the railway to Pinjarra was built. The population had reached 1,197 by 1898.

Victoria Park is a vibrant town with great cafes, restaurants and unusual retail stores. There are lots of beautiful old houses in the area, as well as everything you could need within walking distance. Though it’s close to the centre of Perth, it’s a quiet suburb that doesn’t see much road traffic.

There is a bridge in Victoria Park to connect people to the city, along with bus routes and trains. The suburb also has some spacious parks and ovals, along with stunning city views from the hilly part of the area.
