History

Tapping was originally part of the Carramar Estate, in an area which used to be in Wanneroo. Tapping became its own state in 1997. The name comes from an early European settler, William Tapping, who moved to the area in 1886. Tapping’s daughters, Dolly and Molly, ran the post office in Wanneroo for many years. Many housing projects had taken place where there used to be farms.

Tapping has shopping facilities to suit a variety of needs. It is mostly a residential area, but great cafes and restaurants serve the local residents. Public buses link the area to nearby train lines which travel to Perth and further afield. The local library has events all year round.
