History

A relatively new suburb, South Lake only gained its name as recently as 1982. It was originally supposed to be called Oxley, although this was canned due to a suburb of Queensland already bearing the name.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The big draw in South Lake is undoubtedly the South Lake Leisure Centre. This venue features an indoor heated swimming pool, an outdoor pool with water slides, a sauna, a gym, and two indoor sports courts, in addition to various other facilities. A commercial hub is situated at the suburb’s western tip. It includes a shopping centre, supermarkets and several other outlets. Hop Bush Park, Glen Mia Park and Lucken Reserve are all based in South Lake as well.
