History

A relatively recent suburb, Port Kennedy is built on the striking wetlands of Becher Point. First dubbed ‘Becher’ in 1974, it was renamed ‘Port Kennedy’ in 1990, in honour of a feature in Warnbro Sound.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Port Kennedy is a breezy, laid-back area popular for its easy beach access. The surrounding areas are great for hiking, cycling, golfing and kayaking, and the suburb itself has a strong commercial precinct. The larger shops include a Bunnings and several grocery stores, and Port Kennedy is very accessible via the freeway. It’s close to the thriving nightlife of Fremantle, but safe and quiet enough to ensure that it’s suitable for anyone.
