History

The town’s name comes from the Mullewa Spring, and is an Aboriginal word for ‘the place of fog’. Mullewa’s history dates back to 1869, when European settlers arrived in the area to take up leases for farming. The area became an official town in 1894, which was the same year they built a railway from Geraldton to Mullewa.
