The coastal town of Mullaloo lies to the north of Perth, within the City of Joondalup. The town has a population of 5,800 people.

History

Mullaloo was named after an Aboriginal word. It is thought to mean ‘place of the rat kangaroo’. In 1919 the area was named Mullaloo Point, but the Point was soon dropped.

It wasn’t until the latter end of the mid-1900s that urban development began in Mullaloo. The population boom in Perth and expansion of the area meant massive growth for the suburbs.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Nowadays life in Mullaloo is very much centred on the stunning, unspoilt beaches. The town’s Surf Life Saving Club is responsible for patrols along 4.5 kilometres of beach. The club runs rowing, swimming, boarding and sprinting teams.

There are two primary schools in the town.
