Mosman Park sits on the north bank of the Swan River. It is a suburb of Perth with a population of 8,598.

History

At its inception in 1889, the suburb was called Buckland Hill. The hill it took its name from was a major landmark used by sailors charting the nearby Indian Ocean. It changed its name to Cottesloe Beach in 1909 but reverted to Buckland Hill in 1930.

In 1938, it finally adopted the name Mosman Park. The current name comes from the suburb of Mosman. The area was an industrial hub until 1970. Industrial sites in the area included a General Motors Factory, the WA Rope and Twine Works.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Today, Mosman Park is a particularly affluent suburb. It is mostly a residential area. As of 2010, it has the second highest property values in all of New South Wales. It enjoys parklands along the river and at Buckland Hill.
