Malaga is an industrial suburb in Perth, Australia. It’s located 11km north of Perth’s central business district and is in the City of Swan. Its population is estimated at 28.

History

The suburb’s name is taken from Malaga Road, which was built in 1894. The road’s name may be inspired by the city of Malaga in Spain, or after the Aboriginal word meaning “ironstone”. When the area was promoted by Peet and Co. in the 1930’s, they claimed that the name was of Spanish origin. However, there is no evidence to support this.

It was gazetted in 1969.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area is an industrial precinct. There are currently 2409 local and national businesses in the area that have hired over 12,000 people. The suburb has a bus depot operated by TransPerth. The Paramount College of Natural Medicine’s campus is on Bonner Drive.
