The suburb of Madeley is 20 kilometres outside Perth’s CBD. The busy town has a population of 2,700 people. It is to the north of the main city centre, and is not far from the coast.

History

Madeley is in the Government City of Wanneroo. Until the 1990s residents in the town called it Wanneroo, not Madeley. Boundary changes and disputes meant that the title Madeley was not officially granted until 1998.

Up to 1990, Madeley was still rural. A surge in population numbers led to a boom in the housing market. There was a huge growth in property development.

Today, residents in Madeley can enjoy all of the urban activities on offer in nearby Perth. The Kingsway City Shopping Centre offers many high street stores, supermarkets and other amenities.
