History

Maddington was established in the 1830s after colonialists arrived in Perth. The town was named after Maddington Park in Wiltshire, England, and then further shortened to Maddington as it is known today.

The town is known for its vineyards and orchards. They date back to the early 1900s when the area was used for agricultural activities. The town also has a railway station and large areas of residential development built in the mid-1900s.

Maddington Central is a large shopping precinct created between 1982 and 1992. It has banks, supermarkets and other facilities, as well as many big name brands such as Kmart and Woolworths.
