Kingsley is a suburb located in the City of Joondalup and has a population of over 13,000 people. The eastern part of Kingsley is dominated by the beautiful Lake Goollelal.

History

Kingsley takes its name from the English village of Kingsley which was near to the home of the first landowner in the area, William Kernot Shenton who settled here in 1829, though the name was only approved as recently as 1974.

Kingsley was once home to one of the largest wineries in the southern hemisphere and was started by Ezio Luisini in 1924. The winery closed in 1986 and the land on which it stood was turned into suburban lots.

Kingsley boasts a number of attractions including the only operational drive-in theatre in Perth, The Galaxy Drive-In, which is on Goollelal Drive. The main shopping centres in the area are the Kingsley Village on Kingsley Drive and the Boulevard Plaza, both home to many shops, restaurants and services.
