The origins of Harvey date back to 1829. Captain James Stirling, the future governor of Western Australia, established the Harvey River Settlement on a stretch of fertile land. The town of Harvey would grow steadily from here, thriving as the ‘foothills root’ (later the South Western Highway) brought greater access to the rest of the state.
