History

The suburb is named after Western Australia’s first Premier, Sir John Forrest. It was initially called East Jandakot, but it was changed to Forrestdale in 1915. This was to avoid confusion with Jandakot.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area is home to Forrestdale Lake, a nature reserve that is important for waterbirds. It is usually filled with water in winter, but dries out in the summer. It is the only known habitat of a critically endangered native bee. Tiger Snakes are commonly seen in the area.

The suburb also has a golf course.
