History

Coolbellup was originally a cluster of campsites inhabited by aboriginal tribes from the Swan River. The name comes from a tribe name for a nearby lake. Since then the land has been used for dairy farms and abattoirs. Housing projects started after the world wars have encouraged people to move to the area.
