History

Perth City Council bought land from the Lime Kilns Estate in 1917. It linked the city with the ocean beach which was then developed as a modern seaside destination.

During work to develop the area the council referred to it as ‘City Beach’ a name which stuck.

The suburb, City Beach, was created in three sections. The northern part was built as an athlete’s village for those taking part in the 1962 Commonwealth Games.

The town has everything you would expect from a prosperous seaside spot. There are many park areas, bushland, two major beaches, and a dog beach.

Swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and volleyball are all popular activities. Homes in the area are expensive, modern and contemporary. They can go for as much as $3,000,000.
