Chidlow is a small community in the Shire of Mundaring about 45 kilometres east of Perth, Western Australia. It has a population of around 1,500.

History

Settlement in Chidlow began in 1883 when the local well became the terminus of the second section of the Eastern Railway. The railway was opened in March 1884. Lake Leschenaultia was constructed to provide water for steam trains running through the town.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Since the closure of the railway, Chidlow has become a rural retreat for visitors. The Railway Reserve Heritage Trail is one of the major recreational facilities in the Shire of Mundaring. It is popular for walking, cycling, and horse riding. Lake Leschenaultia is an ideal spot for swimming, canoe hire, walking trails and camping.
