Alexander Heights is a residential suburb of Perth, within the City of Wanneroo. It’s located 14km north-east of Perth’s central business district and has a population of 7,695. Nearby towns include Darch, Landsdale, Ballajura and Girrawheen.

History

In 1977, the suburb was initially called Alinjarra, an Aboriginal word meaning “north”. It was then renamed to Alexander Heights in 1987. The name comes from Alexander Driver, the main road in the area, which forms the east boundary. The road was named after S.B. Alexander, a former Wanneroo Road Board member.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb has Alinjarra Primary School, which serves kindergarten to Year 6. The school is well-known for its sport programs and English courses, which help the large number of recent immigrants moving into the area.

The town is served by Alexander Heights Shopping Centre, which includes a supermarket and other speciality stores.
