Springvale South is a suburb on the outer edge of Melbourne. It lies 25 kilometres to the south-east of the city’s CBD. The population is over 12,000 people.

History

The town’s population saw steady growth during the twentieth century with high numbers of immigrants arriving from Asia. In 2011, the census found that 60% of residents in the area were born overseas.

Springvale South saw the opening of its own post office in November 1926.

The town’s rich cultural heritage has resulted in a number of services to suit all tastes and requirements. There is a choice of schools in the town, and a range of religious buildings. These include the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bright Moon Buddhist Temple, and the New Apostolic Church.
