The suburb of Seville in Melbourne is in the local government area of the Shire of Yarra Ranges. The township is on the now derelict railway which is used as a cycle and walking trail. The population of the area is over 2300 people.
History
Following the submission of plans to construct a large-scale shopping centre on land near the centre of the town in 201i, by 2014 it was actually opened for business. The Warburton Trail has become a great asset to the community of the suburb. It was laid over the route of the old railway line and it is a popular area for cyclists, runners, horse riders, and walkers of all abilities.
Lifestyle and Entertainment
There is an active Fire Service based in the town and the local primary school celebrated its centenary in 1987. Many of the town’s sporting and leisure activities revolve around the Seville Recreation Reserve including the town’s cricket, netball, football, and other teams.
There is a Water Play Park that opened in the Town in 2011, several wineries that hold an annual event every year in October. The town also has a local community group that is dedicated to improving Seville for the benefit of the locals and those in the surrounding areas.
