Ringwood East is a suburb of Victoria and a peaceful escape from the city. It has a population of over 9,700 and is 25 kilometres east of Melbourne’s central business district.

History

The area of Ringwood East is home to Burnt Bridge, which is named after the Burnt Bridge Hotel. The hotel was run by two women called Elizabeth Moore and Lucy Dawson as far back as the 1840s. The area was grazing land at that time.

Around the time of 1902, Ringwood East Post Office opened. The local railway station opened in 1925.

Ringwood East has lots of native trees and wildlife. It also has a football team, as well as cricket and tennis clubs. There are some good schools and childcare centres nearby.

It is a clean and quiet area with great parks and attractive gardens. There is a small shopping strip on the doorstep, along with a regular train service.
