Riddells Creek is a town of 3,753 people towards the southern border of the state of Victoria. Located in the Shire of Macedon Ranges, Riddells Creek shares a name with the main body of water that runs through it. It eventually reaches the Jacksons Creek tributary towards the south.

History

John Carre Riddell and Thomas Ferrier Hamilton were the first European settlers in Riddells Creek. They purchased and leased over 2000 acres of land. The post office opened in 1859

Lifestyle and Culture

Riddells Creek is home to 2 historic railway bridges and the Dromkeen Museum, which houses the Australian Children’s Literature Collection, as well as hosting a program of talks and events throughout the year for the general public. Mt Charlie State Forest is located east of Riddells Creek and the Macedon Mountain Ranges are towards the north.
