Ocean Grove is a seaside town chock-full of beaches in Victoria. It has a population of 12,555.

History

Ocean Grove started life as a religious camp community. A permanent Methodist camp in New Jersey inspired other models around the world. Ocean Grove, Victoria was named after this camp.

In 1887, Charles James and James Grigg purchased land in the area. They subdivided it into lots and people settled in the area.

By 1927, the Barwon Heads Bridge linked the community to Barwon Heads.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Ocean Grove is now a vibrant beachy community. It is the largest urban centre on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Every summer, the population swells fourfold. People come to enjoy its many beaches and outdoor activities. Tourism is a very important part of the economy.

The town has two large shopping centres. The town has many sporting facilities. These include a golf club, indoor sports complex, an aquatic centre, and two tennis clubs.
