History

After the area’s European settlement, Myrtleford was originally called Myrtle Creek. It was used for grazing cattle back in 1837.
Gold diggers were forced to cross Myrtle Creek on their way to Buckland Valley, where gold was found. As a result of the fording place, the area took up the name Myrtleford.
