Kyabram is in the centre of the Goulburn River Valley, 200km north of Melbourne. It is the second largest town in the Shire of Campaspe. It has a population of 7,321.

History

Bangerang people first inhabited Kyabram and the surrounding area.

The first town blocks were sold in 1876. The town’s post office opened on 23 September 1878. John Allen, a resident of Kyabram, became the premier of Victoria in 1924. The township was officially proclaimed on 4 July 1973.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Australian Rules Football and cricket are popular sports in Kyabram. There are two golf clubs in the town. These are Kyabram Valley View Golf and Bowls Club and the Kyabram Parkland Golf Club.

Dairy and fruit orchards support the economy of Kyabram. The 55 hectare Kyabram Fauna Park is a major attraction for visitors. It has five hundred species of wildlife including emus and kangaroos.
