B Corps look to move away from an emphasis on short term profits for shareholders to a model that creates shared and enduring prosperity for all stakeholders including workers, suppliers, the community and the environment. The certification turns concepts such as “being a good corporate citizen” or “environmentally conscious” into something tangible and measurable that can be easily identified, and trusted.
Throughout its history, Harwood Andrews has been committed to having a positive impact on the communities in which we operate. For Harwood Andrews, being a B Corp is a better way of doing business, where we become accountable in our commitment to our workers, our community and our environment. We hope to broaden our impact on the communities and environments in which we work and inspire others to do the same.
Historically, legal services have been charged on the basis of an hourly rate or a scale of costs. Such pricing models often reward inefficiency & fail to provide certainty to you about the legal fees being incurred. They also do not always capture the commercial value of the solutions provided to our clients. To provide you with greater transparency & clarity, we offer our clients the ability to enter into an ‘agreed price’ with us, whereby the scope & value of the work is agreed upon.
To become a B Corp, companies have to be certified by the non-profit B Lab. B Corp certification evaluates an entire company, looking at such things as worker engagement, community involvement, environmental footprint and governance structure. The process is not an easy one, but companies who complete the assessment become a certified B Corp, and join a global community of companies who compete not just to be the best in the world, but the best for the world.
