The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) was established on 1 July 2013 as the statutory agency responsible for regulating the state's building and plumbing industries.
The VBA is enabled under a number of Acts and Regulations and is the successor in law of the former Building Commission and the Plumbing Industry Commission.
The VBA is currently the regulator of the building and plumbing industries, ensuring the safety, livability and sustainability of the built environment.
We manage a rigorous testing program to ensure plumbing and building practitioners meet high standards before we licence and register them.
We will continue to be a fair, transparent and accountable regulator, which provides high standards of customer service.
