Chadstone is a suburb of Melbourne. 17km from Melbourne, its local government area is the City of Monash. It has a population of around 8000 people.

History

The houses in Chadstone were mostly built in the post-war period using prefabricated concrete made at the current site of the Holmesglen TAFE. On average, they are quite small, with two to three bedrooms and large blocks. Due to the large block sizes, it is common for the houses to be demolished and larger houses built in their place.

In 1957, Chadstone Post Office opened. Chadstone Centre Post Office opened in 1960. The Chadstone office later closed in 1998.

Today it is a small suburb. Parts that once belonged to Chadstone are being rezoned to be incorporated into Malvern East.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Landmarks of Chadstone include the Waverley Basketball Centre, Jordanville Community Centre, and the Matthew Flinders Hotel. Two schools currently reside in the suburb.
