  • Pre Paid Funeral Planns
  • Over 160 years of family tradition

We know having to arrange a funeral can be daunting, especially if you haven't had any previous experience.
From its earliest beginnings the Mulqueen Family Funeral Business has pioneered service for the Bendigo community.

An individual's choice of burial or cremation is often based on family traditions or family/individual beliefs. Whatever you choose, Mulqueen Family funeral directors will be able to accommodate every detail.

We also offer some suggestions as to how you might compose a death notice, knowing that sometimes it's hard to find the right words to express just how you feel. We have also provided a collection of verses and quotations that might help reflect those feelings.

The Mulqueen Family Funeral Directors is there to attend to every minute detail that the family has requested and guide everyone through the arrangements in a caring and understanding manner.

FAQs

  • What happens to the metal parts of a coffin at cremation?

Some crematoria remove the fittings because of chemical compositions and emissions. Any fittings removed are destroyed.

  • How long can the body of the deceased be kept in refrigeration?

Funerals usually take place within 2-4 days. The longest period we would suggest would be 3-4 weeks unless the body is embalmed.

  • Is a viewing always possible?

In most cases yes, but it would depend on the specific circumstances. At Mulqueen Family Funeral Directors we believe in the value of viewing and would endeavour to facilitate this where possible.

  • Is more than one coffin cremated at the one time in a cremator?

No. However in the case of a mother and baby / father and baby or twin children some crematoria will accept both in the same coffin.

  • What is the percentage of cremations to burials?

There are approximately 30,000 deaths each year in Victoria with some 12,000 cremations taking place. In metropolitan areas approximately 60-65% of all funerals are cremations. In country areas the percentage varies dramatically.

  • Is there any significance in the colour of coffins?

No. This is purely a matter of personal choice.
