Anglesea is a coastal town in Victoria. It sits along the well-known Great Ocean Road, a major tourist attraction in the state. Anglesea has a population of roughly 2,454 residents.

History

The land’s indigenous people are the Wathaurong people, who have inhabited the area for thousands of years. European inhabitants established the fishing and timber industries after failed attempts to use the land for grazing.

Boarding and guest houses were the first buildings set-up in the area. This was to service the sporting groups which would visit Anglesea from Melbourne.

Picturesque views of the forest and coastline, as well as the many beaches, are major attraction points for the renowned tourist destination. Be sure to check out Point Roadknight, the lookouts on Harvey Street and the Great Ocean Road.

Tourists can also enjoy the local markets by the river on the Great Ocean Road.
