History

Development of the area began in 1960 and Altona North Post Office opened on 11th of April of that year. It was later renamed as Beevers in 1966 after a new Altona North Office was opened in Duke Street. In the 1980’s The Royal Prince and Diana Princess of Wales came to officially open the Mason Street Housing Commission.

There is a sporting complex in Altona North and the Altona Gate shopping centre provides local shopping facilities. A 9 hole golf and driving range are situated at the Altona Lakes Golf Club. Many high-profile entertainers have performed at the Westgate Entertainment Centre and Grand Star Reception in Dohertys Road.

The Paisley Park sporting facilities include a swimming pool plus soccer and Lacrosse fields. There is also a miniature railway and a bowling club on the premises.
