History

In 1996, Altona Meadows Post Office opened as the suburb began to grow.

Cheetham Wetlands, partly located in Altona Meadows, is a large park area with many boardwalks that travel across its network of lagoons. These wetlands attract a large number of migratory birds. This is why the area is popular with many walkers and birdwatchers.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Altona Meadows is home to two primary schools. Altona Meadows Primary School is state-run and teaches 350 students from Prep to Year 6. Queen of Peace Parish Primary School is a Catholic primary school with around 560 students from Prep to Year 6. A new gym was opened at the school in 2011, along with a new music and performing arts centre.
