History

The area was occupied by the Kaurna people until the arrival of European explorers. It was visited by a group of European explorers in 1837. They named it Hurtle Vale after the leader of the group.

The Sheidow pastoralist family were the first owners of the land. They lent their name to Sheidow Park. It was largely used as farming land. The area became a residential suburb starting in the 1970s and continues to grow.

A quaint suburb in the hills overlooking Adelaide, Sheidow Park is highly popular. Many young families live in this family friendly area. It has three primary schools and several high schools nearby.
